3.1.0 - 09 Oct 2026
Added:
- WP Config: turn WordPress constants such as
CORE_UPGRADE_SKIP_NEW_BUNDLED, DISABLE_WP_CRON or DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT on and off, written into wp-config.php; constants set elsewhere are shown locked.
- File Manager revisions: save titled restore points of a file, compare any of them with the editor, restore, duplicate or delete them.
- Users Manager: edit username, email and role inline.
- Base64 tool: data URIs, CSS backgrounds,
@font-face, batch mode for a whole stylesheet, SVG optimisation and image resize before encoding. New Tools: URL Encode/Decode, HTML Entities, Hex/Binary/Text.
- Sync: a read-only key, so a site can be pulled from but refuses pushes.
Improved:
- Sync and restore keep you logged in, also on sites whose salts are not in wp-config.php (every WordPress Studio site).
- A pull that fails after this site's database was (even partly) replaced now restores the replaced tables from the safety backup automatically and removes the tables it added.
- Backups contain only this site's tables, and a restore never touches other WordPress installs that share the same database.
- Sync copies uploads first, then plugins and themes, then the database, and swaps each plugin and theme folder in whole, so a site never runs a half-copied plugin during a sync.
- Sync and restore keep the site's own sync key and connection.
- A warning before pushing into a site that runs an older DevKit.
- Restoring by upload works for backups larger than the server's upload limit.
- Plugins Disabler on multisite: turning it off on one site no longer stops it on the whole network.
Bug Fixes:
- Sync failed with "The stored connection secret could not be read." on sites with default (placeholder) salts, leaving the site half-pulled.
- On WordPress Studio and other SQLite sites, a backup of a site running Wordfence could run forever and fill the disk.
- Files containing the word
SLASH (e.g. JSON_UNESCAPED_SLASHES) were corrupted when saved in the File Manager.
- The File Manager's old
.bak copies (wp-config.php included) were stored where a web server could serve them; DevKit now removes them.
- Plugins Disabler could permanently deactivate a disabled plugin when another plugin saved the active plugins list.
- Deleting an image now also removes the WebP copies DevKit made.
- The File Manager list no longer jumps when a row is clicked.
- URL migration no longer doubles the port (localhost to localhost:8881).
- Restoring with a different table prefix could keep the wrong user roles.
- A database error or a full disk during a backup now fails the backup, instead of producing an incomplete backup that reported success.
- On MySQL, a restore that failed while swapping tables could leave a core table missing; the original tables are now put back.
3.0.0
Rebuilt admin interface, a new Sync module, and a faster, quieter plugin.
- Added
- Sync — copy a database, uploads, plugins and themes between two DevKit sites. One site issues a key, the other pastes it, then pulls or pushes. URLs are migrated and a safety backup is taken first.
- Reset keep lists — pick the options, plugins, themes and users a reset must not touch, from the Reset screen itself.
- Terminal — an admin shell with a bundled WP-CLI.
- New admin interface across every module.
- Changed
- Update checks: cached for 12 hours, 3-second timeout, and a failed check now backs off instead of retrying on every page load.
- Country Block: a failed geo lookup is remembered, and a rate-limited provider is skipped rather than waited on.
- Maintenance and cleanup tasks moved to a daily cron instead of running on admin page loads.
- Fixed
- A restore or sync could fail on servers that store table names with different capitals.
- A kept permalink_structure was overwritten during a reset.
- The bundled WP-CLI wrapper could pick a server PHP binary that WP-CLI refuses to run.
- An unreachable update server could stall wp-admin on every request.
- Deleting a parent theme no longer removes an active child theme.
- Kept users are restored with their own password and role.
